Every time I flip from my DAW to Spotify or Youtube and I hear a little click or pop, I get one step closer to switching away from UAD.Ĭlick to expand.Unfortunately, what you say is true and I hate to be the one to say it but UAD has become a grifter for Windows users and I can see the writing on the wall that they are MAC only now and have no plans to support anything Windows. They are freaking cool, but they are so far behind on PC support. The kicker here is that there are only a handful of motherboards, a few chipsets, and like 2 acceptable Thunderbolt adapters. Normally in the Mac vs PC debate you can make the argument that there is a small subset of Apple hardware to account and optimize for as compared to infinite PC options. ![]() RME and PreSonus are managing Thunderbolt with WDM, so I doubt it's outside of their capability to resolve. The fact that you hit a wall and there's no way around it other than using other hardware is insane to me. We don't mind tinkering, but at the end of the day, if I spend $2k+ on an interface that's Windows ready, it should work without too much fuss. Unfortunately us PC guys by nature have a DIY mindset. I feel like it's going to take a slew of bad reviews on product pages to fast track these WDM fixes. LatencyMon does show DPC drops, and fairly quickly after the recording starts And I will have to add a monitor controller since I have 2 sets of speakersĮdit: actually I also have pops and cracks in FL studio. I am therefore indeed considering to switch it for an RME or a Prism Sound Lyra 1 or 2 (though for them again I am not sure about their windows drivers). I also had to tick "mix-in buffer switch" in FL studio to work properly, not sure why.įinally, I don't have the budget yet for an interface + an Octo, though that would be indeed the best of both words. I cannot test the entire system right away so now I get suspicious. What scares me at this moment is that I find out later, after my return-free period, that there are some MIC inputs which records with cracks and stuff. Unfortunately ThrottleStop application seems to be compatible with Intel only. Now I am more into "how to prevent the CPU to throttle", since apparently that's the issue. ![]() I haven't checked yet if Windows can turn off the power of Thunderbolt 3 connector like for USB, will check that asap. I went through the windows settings already, and even beyond with a custom power management plan where power feed to the CPU is reduced to 99% (which btw greatly reduced the ground loop noise I had!).
